五山の送り火

I have been slacking to write my blog in English...again... BUT this time I have an excuse... few weeks ago, we moved from Maizuru to Kyoto city for Jeff's new job. From all this moving and cleaning, I got shingles on my face. I guess, you have chickenpox when you are little and the virus is not eliminated from your body and can cause this shingles when your immunity is low. I got better after about 2 weeks, but now our poor little baby got chickenpox... Today is the 6th day since he had the initial symptoms, so he is getting better now.

Yesterday, he was a lot better so we took him outside. He was very excited because it has been 4days since he went outside last (to see doctor...). There was Daimonji festival in Kyoto last night. Around this time, the spirits of deceased family members come and visit this world. On Autust 16th, five giant bonfires are lit on mountains to send these spirits off. Two of the character 'Daimonji' and 'Hidari Daimonji' can be seen near our house. There were sooo many people but it was cool!

赤ちゃんの水疱瘡、だいぶ良くなってきました。ほとんどの発疹がかさぶたになっています。お熱も無いし、食欲はあり過ぎるし元気なので、昨日はちょっとだけ外出しました。金曜日以来なので、４日ぶりです。昨日は五山の送り火でした。ネットで調べると、家からだと金閣寺大北山の左大文字が一番近くて、家の側の大通りから見えると書いてあったので行ってみることに。左大文字は８時１５分点火だったので、８時頃に家を出てみると、家の前がざわざわしていて人だかりが。近くにいたおばさんに聞いてみると、「ここから東山の大文字が見えるよ〜」と言うので、指差す方を見てみると、

見えた〜！

この後、左大文字を見ようと西大路通の方へ歩いて行ったのですが、すごい人。




信号を渡らないと見えないのですが、あまりの人に、私と赤ちゃんは渡らずに待っていることに。ジェフだけ渡って、写真を撮って来てくれました☆遠いけれど、奇麗に見えてます。

来年は赤ちゃんも大きくなってるので、ジェフの肩車でもうちょっと近くまで行ってみようかな♪
